About Pencilbrains Publishing
Founded in 2000 in Hartford, Connecticut, Pencilbrains Publishing began as a small creative studio with a mission to champion unconventional thought and independent artistic expression. Now headquartered in Milford, CT, Pencilbrains has grown into a multidisciplinary U.S.-based publishing group working at the intersection of literature, fine art, and music.
Over the past two decades, Pencilbrains has evolved into a vibrant creative ecosystem, bringing together diverse artistic fields under one independent banner. What began as a local initiative has expanded into a global platform dedicated to nurturing bold voices and visionary creators.
Our Mission
Pencilbrains Publishing specializes in literary fiction, philosophical fiction, and psychological fiction, with a strong commitment to art-driven, intellectually engaging work. We seek out authors and artists who challenge conventions, explore complex ideas, and offer fresh perspectives on the human experience.
We provide a home for creators whose voices fall outside the mainstream—those exploring experimental forms, unconventional narratives, and innovative artistic approaches. At Pencilbrains, artistic risk-taking and boundary-pushing creativity are not only supported but celebrated.
A Multidisciplinary Creative Group
Pencilbrains operates through several interconnected divisions, each dedicated to a different artistic discipline:
Pencilbrains Records – A hub for independent and experimental music, showcasing artists who push sonic boundaries and explore new creative territories.
Pencilbrains Gallery – A contemporary art platform featuring fine art, sculpture, and multimedia works from emerging and established artists worldwide.
Pencilbrains Paper Publishing – Focused on traditional print publications, including books, essays, literary projects, and text-driven artistic works.
Together, these divisions reflect our commitment to fostering a rich, diverse creative culture—one where literature, art, and music coexist and inspire one another.
